Turtles Forever

In case you didn't know, 2009 marked the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and 4Kids (yeah that 4kids) decided to air a special movie this morning titled "Turtles Forever", which was a crossover between the Turtles from the original cartoon, the new version, and the original 1984 comic book.

I got up early just to watch this. This was "Forever Red" for TMNT fans, that's for sure. They did a really good job of capturing what made all 3 incarnations of the turtles special: the 1984 turtles were really grim and gritty, the 1987 turtles were goofy and light-hearted, and the 2003 turtles were somewhere in-between.

It was great seeing all the classic characters come together and interact with one-another, especially the Shredders: 2003 Shredder being the most competent and intimidating, 1987 being a typical bumbling cartoon villain, and the 1984 villain being a blip on the radar (for those not in the know, in the comics, Shredder was a one-shot villain in the first issue).

The voices were okay for the most part. My biggest complaint being that James Avery (aka Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) didn't reprise his role as 1987 Shredder.

All in all, It was a fun little homage to one of one of the most beloved cartoon franchises of all-time.

In case yo wanna see it again, they'll be airing it again over the next few Saturdays.

Second time around

Well I just played and beat Final Fantasy VIII for the second time in about 10 years. It was seriously my second ever RPG after Pokemon Red/Blue, so you can probably guess that I had no earthy clue what the hell I was doing.

I wanted to give the game a second go for two reasons:

1) I felt as though I gave the game too hard a time when I was younger, but it was mostly my fault because I didn't understand the play mechanics at all. My first time through I just summoned GFs in every single fight, because I was wondering why the hell my normal attacks were doing such a lousy amount of damage. The story is still ass though.

2) I heard that it was possible to get through the whole game without gaining a single gaining, given that you were willing to play the card game for hours on end to get cards tor refine into spells to junction, which I did. I was a powerhouse for the entire game. The only person I couldn't beat was Omega Weapon, but I think if I play it right I can eventually beat him (I actually tried to record my boss fight, but I kept losing).

I enjoyed my little trip into nostalgia country, but I'm not sure if I'll ever actually play through the whole game again.

EDIT: Oh, and I had to watch the last half of the ending on youtube, because some years ago one of my cousins put a crack in Disc 4 and it freezes at a certain point.

I had to go talk to my adviser and get an academic plan of action, which I did, took it over to the financial aid department, and they dispersed my funds finally.

Now to buckle down and work hard so I can GTFO of here in May.

Well I'm all completely moved in to my new place, but my net isn't turned on yet, so I'm in the library until tomorrow when it gets turned on.

I'll be happy if I never have to walk long distances or lift heavy objects again for a very long time.

Luckily this time it's only upstairs. Some backstory:

When I move in to my current apartment around this time last year, I was ignorant of the fact that my roommates, who are related, wanted to move their cousin into this apartment with them, but something went wrong and I got moved in instead. We talked about this a few times since I've been here, and I agreed to move into another unit once my lease in the room I'm currently in expired, and that time has come.

So I have to spend the next few days, slowly moving all my stuff upstairs, and have to be completely moved out by Monday.

Not that it's a major problem or anything, but it's just another extra burden put on me lately.

Well I'm back in Greensboro, and I was given some good news about school:

My mom decided that she's gonna take it upon herself to pay for my tuition his semester. She's gonna take money from her own pocket and fund my schooling this semester. I swear, one of these days I'm buying her a solid gold house with a rocket car.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to go back to school this semester.

The financial aid loan I always used was discontinued earlier this year, and every other type of loan I've applied for was denied, mostly because every single co-signer I've tried to used was turned down due to bad credit.

To think: I finally started to get my grades together, I had one year to go before I graduated, and now I can't go back for, of all things, money issues.

Now I'm not sure what I'm gonna do: stay in NC, or come home. I have an Associate's Degree at least, so I have some sort of college certification, but I really wanna finish up my education so it doesn't feel like I wasted the last 5 years of my life, but it looks like I'm gonna have to postpone that for now.

Honestly, there's not much for me in NC. Though I love it there, Greensboro isn't the biggest city, and there's no industry there whatsoever. At least here in the metropolitan area there's tons of things I can do and apply for. Also, I can seriously try and get my license since C is fickle about that sort of thing.

Even with all the possibilities, this whole ordeal sucks.

Well I've been back in MD for about two weeks now, and it's been nice. I needed this vacation since I was starting to get seriously depressed down in NC by myself. I'll probably head back there in two more weeks right before school starts.

I haven't really don much since I've been home. I've mostly just been hanging around the house, and this past weekend I finally got to hang out with Chris after who knows how long.

Once I get back down south, I seriously need to start getting my life together. It's nowhere near where I want it to be.

MISAWA PASSES AWAY AFTER BACKDROP IN HIROSHIMA MATCH

Mitsuharu Misawa, one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all-time, was declared dead at 10:10 p.m. Saturday night at a hospital in Hiroshima after being dropped on his head in a tag team title match.

Misawa would have turned 47 on June 18th.

Misawa & Go Shiozaki were challening Bison Smith & Akitoshi Saito for the GHC tag team championship in Hiroshima and Misawa was dropped on his head at about 8:45 p.m. and knocked unconscious.

According to eye witness reports, Saito gave Misawa a "routine" back suplex that was described as a "7" in danger on a scale of one-to-ten. He did not get up. It was chaos in the ring as they attempted to revive him using CPR and the crowd was hushed for a while, and began a "Misawa" chant. He turned purple in the ring and was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.

The wrestlers were told on the bus that he had passed away.

While it is being reported that he passed away at the hospital, he may have actually passed away in the ring.

Misawa was the Japanese high school national wrestling champion at 187 pounds in 1980, and was recruited by Giant Baba into All Japan Pro Wrestling. He gained his first taste of stardom in 1984 when he was chosen to be the second Tiger Mask. After unmasking in 1990, he became an even bigger star after a series of singles matches with Jumbo Tsuruta.

He was Japan's biggest pro wrestling star of the 90s, and one could make a strong case for him as the top wrestler of the decade. He was the Wrestler of the Year in 1995, 1997 and 1999.

After the death of Shohei "Giant" Baba, Misawa wrestled a little over one more year for All Japan Pro Wrestling, while working as company president. After consistently butting heads with owner Motoko Baba, the widow of Shohei Baba, he and 90% of the All Japan roster quit the company to form Pro Wrestling NOAH.

This is a terrible loss for the pro wrestling business, and it also adds yet another victim to the sad statistic of wrestlers who go to an early grave.

RIP Misawa. You'll be greatly missed.

So yesterday I was sitting on my bed in front of my laptop when I decide to switch position. All of a sudden my foot gets caught around my portable hard drive and it pulls and swings down and smacks into my laptop.

My portable HD is fine thank goodness, but then I notice that my laptop is making some weird clicking and beeping noises, not to mention moving slower than usual, so as a precaution, I restart it...and then it gets stuck on he loading screen and restarts, just like the last tim tis happened.

Lucky for me, I had the foresight to back up all of my stuff the other day, so I only lost a few files from Saturday and my firefox bookmarks (which I re-found already). All of my pictures and portfolio stuff are safe this time, so no worries there, but now I have to go through the arduous task of caling up Toshiba AGAIN so I can end it off AGAIN.

I really hope this isn't some cycle that I'm gonna have to go though every two months with this thing.
